We purchased our small farm in 2017, and came to the property with a strong passion for improving the environment and biodiversity of the property while producing quality products that used techniques that didn’t rely on synthetic fertilisers or herbicides.

Rowan is a 2nd generation farmer, having grown up in the Otway ranges of Victoria on a Protea and Australian native flower farm. He has worked in the arboriculture and engineering industries and brings skills from both these areas to the farm, along with a strong passion for improving our environment for future generations.

Lauren grew up in rural Tasmania, spending her childhood on her Pops mixed grazing and cropping farm in Kindred. She is a registered nurse, mother and farmer that can lend her hand to most things.

With our combined passion for small farms, the environment and good food we aim to produce beautiful produce and develop lasting relationships with all the people who support us.

Garlic

Lalla Valley Farm produces Duganski, Tasmanian purple and Lokalen garlic in a small market garden style operation. We use long crop rotations to reduce disease within our crop, and grow green manure and fodder crops in the resting beds, aiming to always have something growing in the soil.

To manage weeds we use occultation (large tarps laid on ground) to control weeds prior to planting, with no herbicides or pesticides being used in our production. All our garlic is harvested and processed by hand on farm, with our aim to produce beautiful, tasty garlic that can be enjoyed from December through to June. You can purchase our garlic from Alps and Amici, Norwood IGA, The Grain Grocer, Eumarrah Karoolalla Farm shop or direct from our online shop when in season.

Lamb

We run a small flock of Wiltipol sheep for the production of prime lamb. Our focus is on animal welfare and improving the environment through our grazing and management practices. We have transitioned our farm to regenerative grazing with paddocks undergoing extended rest periods which reduces our reliance on drenches and improves soil structure and nutrients by increasing soil organic content. We run Wiltipol sheep as they do not require shearing, are well suited to our high rainfall zone and are calm and easy to handle, and most of all produce beautiful lean meat.

We have lamb boxes for sale by around February/March each year depending on the season, and do a monthly run until we are sold out. Boxes are delivered to your door in the Launceston region and we do a centralised pickup from a cold warehouse in Hobart for our southern customers. Please subscribe here or at the bottom of this page if you would like to join our waitlist and be kept up to date with when our boxes become available.

Christmas Trees

Christmas trees grown with care and love! We will have a limited number of Christmas trees for sale Christmas 2024. Please subscribe here or at the bottom of the page to be notified when the trees go on sale, or check back around late October for an update.
